
MEET FIRST LADY LA’TONYA D. PULLAM
La’Tonya Denise Pullam is married to her teenage sweetheart and the love of her life, Kevin Lanier Pullam, the proud Pastor of Pleasant Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church of Ft. Worth (Lake Como) Texas. After nearly 23 years of marriage, she is still captivated by his charm and lights up when he enters the room. She affirms her devotion as a helpmeet with a steadfast conviction that he is her ministry. She is the proud parent of 4 sons (Kory La’Quess, Kamaron Le’Sean, Kristian Lanier, Kaleb Lamar) and 1 daughter (Kevelyn La’Briella (Damian) Pullam-Simms). She’s also the proud grandparent of 2 granddaughters- Kylie La’Nae Pullam and Kailyn Kamora Simms and 1 grandson- Kacey Keith Simms. La’Tonya has worked for over 17 years diligently, faithfully and untiringly to help forge the ministry God has placed in their charge, a ministry which has expanded numerically, geographically and spiritually.
La’Tonya is the proud recipient of Associates Degrees in Liberal Arts, Psychology, Sociology, and Social Work, awarded from Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from Texas A&M University. She recently completed Masters of Art Degree in Human Services Administration from Judson University and will be a part of the graduating class in May of 2018. Until she moved to Texas to partner in ministry at Pleasant Mt. Gilead she held a license in Child Welfare for the State of Illinois and worked as a Foster Care Placement Worker in Rockford and vicinity, striving daily to be a beacon of light while making a difference in the lives of young people in dark situations.
La’Tonya has served as a VBS and youth Bible Study teacher, facilitator of the Women Of Wisdom women’s group, director of the Dalmatian Spot nursery and has served as keynote speaker for various events throughout Wisconsin, Illinois and Texas. Sis. Pullam also served on the state of Illinois Youth Advisory Board.While residing in Corpus Christi Texas, La’Tonya co-founded VCO (Vision Community Organization), along with her husband and was responsible for organizing free summer camps for area children. She was the secretary of the NAACP Corpus Christi Branch, participated in the Making Strides for Breast Cancer annually, the Brown Bag Challenge monthly and ministered to and fed homeless families along with Friendship Baptist Church and the Salvation Army canteen weekly.
LaTonya’s favorite scriptures in found in Proverbs 3:5-6 which reads, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths”. She is a highly respected, greatly loved, anointed servant of God worthy of double honor with whom God is still increasing. We are proud to call her the First Lady of Pleasant Mt. Gilead and anticipate the Lord will continue to do mighty things through this phenomenal lady.
